BIO—

ELISE, born NY 1999, lives and experiences with eyes first. She creates with a level of tactility that brings experience back to that which can be held. In her creative process, She is looking forward, referencing backwards, but existing in the now. ELISE’s use of precarious forms and aberrant shapes makes a home of ephemeral oddities. having lived the vast majority of her life in urban landscapes her constructions of safety coexist, and eventually merge, with a present wilderness of something that can’t be described as anything less than femininity. repeatedly subverting the center and carving out space with a knife, hole, or pencil to create a new form that is the foundation for her practice. situated on the line between representation, utilitarian, and abstraction her work is her practice is her understanding of the self and the object and the muddy intersection of the two. She owes her understanding of space and balance, as well as the importance of place to having grown up in her parents' architecture office based in her childhood home. by condensing vast regions of time, space, and thought her work aims to invite the viewer in, giving them as much as they ask.
